Implementation, after the audit

Website & Local Visibility Rebuild for Small Businesses

For owners whose customers cannot find them, or find them and cannot get through. A rebuilt site, an enquiry path only people can get through, the email records that stop forgery, and the Google presence that puts you on the map. Fixed scope, then kept working.

AUD $2,500–$4,500 fixed scope Care from $199 a month On-site across the Peninsula, remote Australia-wide

The website is one part of the path. This fixes the whole path.

01 The leak

Customers who wanted you and never got through.

A stranger who needs what you do has to find you, believe you, and reach you. Each of those breaks in its own way, and the owner is the last person to notice, because you already know where you are and how to contact yourself.

Sites built a decade ago on a content management system that has since stopped receiving updates often share the same faults. The homepage is pictures with no words. The footer names a suburb the business left years ago. The contact form has one hidden field standing between a bot and the inbox, and the stronger check that was configured stopped rendering long ago without telling anyone. The domain has no records that let other mail systems tell a genuine message from a forged one.

Any one of those is enough to lose the enquiry. Together they leave the business invisible in the map results and unreachable when someone does find it. The Local Visibility Audit finds which of them apply to you. This page is what happens when the answer is more than a free correction.

02 What gets built

Six parts of one path, fixed together.

  1. 01

    The website

A rebuilt site at your existing address, written to say what you do and where you work. Static pages on Cloudflare, so there is no content management system to patch and nothing for bots to log in to. Every old page address redirects to its replacement.

  2. 02

    The enquiry path

The contact form sends to a small program I control, not straight to a mailbox. It checks the sender is a person, rejects anything filled in faster than a human can type, limits repeat attempts, keeps a copy of every message, and only then emails you.

  3. 03

    The email records

SPF, DKIM and DMARC records on your domain, so other mail systems can tell your genuine mail from forgeries. That stops people sending as you, stops the bounce-backs it causes, and helps your own replies land in the inbox rather than junk.

  4. 04

    The Google Business Profile

Created, or repaired if one exists, and verified with you on a call because Google requires the owner. Categories, service areas, hours, services, description and photos filled in properly. Duplicate profiles consolidated where that is possible.

  5. 05

    The listings

Your Facebook page, industry directories and the main Australian business directories brought into line with the site: one name, one phone number, one description, one address or service area, everywhere.

  6. 06

    Measurement

Google Search Console and privacy-friendly visitor statistics that need no cookie banner, set up on launch day, so the care plan can report on which searches bring people and how many enquiries arrive.

Fixing the form removes form spam. Enforcing the email records removes forgery and the bounce-backs it causes. Neither removes list spam to an address that has been public for years; that only changes when the address does, and it is quoted separately.

03 Good fit

Worth doing when the audit says the site is part of the problem.

A good fit

  • Customers tell you they could not find you, or a real enquiry turned up weeks late in a pile of spam.
  • The site was built years ago, does not work on a phone, and nobody can safely update it.
  • You have no Google Business Profile, or one that shows the wrong suburb, category or details.
  • You hold a licence or credential and want every claim on the site to hold up if someone checks.
  • You can approve pages within a week or two and can reach whoever holds your domain and hosting.

Probably not the right build

  • You mainly want the site to look more modern. A working site with a quiet phone has a different problem.
  • You need online sales, customer logins, or pages you publish yourself every day.
  • You want a guaranteed ranking position.
  • You want someone to run your social media or write a blog every week.
  • You have plenty of enquiries already. Start with follow-up and quoting instead.
04 Examples, not case studies

What the build looks like in a service business.

Illustrative service-business scenario

The business moved. The website did not.

An owner relocates and keeps working from the new area for years. The site still names the old suburb in every footer, the awards on it are from the old council, and the new area is not mentioned once. Google takes the site at its word. The rebuild puts the real service area on every page and in the business data, and the profile pins the business where it actually is.

Illustrative trades scenario

A spam check that quietly stopped working

A contact form was protected years ago by a widget that has since been withdrawn by its provider. The hidden fields are still in the page, the widget no longer renders, and the only thing between a bot and the inbox is a single hidden field. The form is replaced with a path that verifies the sender before anything is sent.

Illustrative clinic scenario

Replies that land in junk

The domain has no authentication records, so anyone can send mail as the practice. Forged mail is bounced back to the real inbox, and genuine replies to new patients are treated with suspicion by their mail systems. The records are added, the reports are watched for a fortnight, then the policy is tightened.

These are illustrative situations, not client results or performance claims.

05 The deliverables

What you receive.

  1. 01

    A rebuilt website

Up to 12 core pages plus up to 8 short suburb pages, working on phone, tablet and desktop, hosted on Cloudflare at your existing domain.

  2. 02

    Page copy in your voice

Written from a 90-minute conversation and the material you already have, with two rounds of changes per page. Nothing publishes without your sign-off.

  3. 03

    Protected contact form

Human verification, timing and rate limits, a stored copy of every enquiry, and an automatic acknowledgement to the person who wrote in.

  4. 04

    Redirects and business data

Every current page address redirected to its replacement, and your business details published in the structured format Google reads.

  5. 05

    Email authentication records

SPF, DKIM and DMARC added to your domain, with a monitoring address for the reports so the policy can be tightened once they are clean.

  6. 06

    Google Business Profile and listings

Profile created or repaired and verified with you, then Facebook, industry directories and the main Australian directories aligned to it.

  7. 07

    Measurement and handover

Search Console and analytics set up, the old tracking removed, a one-page handover note, and a before-and-after record of speed, mobile and search scores.

Not included, so there are no surprises: photography, moving your mailbox to another provider, logos and branding, social media, paid advertising, ongoing article writing, and pages beyond the agreed list. Each can be quoted on its own.

06 The process

About five weeks from go-ahead to launch.

  1. Week 1

    Access and the content conversation

We confirm who holds your domain registration and hosting, then spend 90 minutes on your services, areas, projects and story. The Google Business Profile is created and verification started the same week, because it is the slowest step.

  2. Week 2

    Build

Pages, copy drafts, the enquiry form, redirects and structured business data. Drafts arrive as they are written so you can correct them early rather than all at once.

  3. Week 3

    Review

You see the whole site on a private link, on your phone and your computer. Two rounds of changes per page, and the form is tested end to end with a real submission.

  4. Week 4

    Launch

The new site replaces the old one at the same address. Email records are added, redirects and search settings are checked, and the old hosting stays running as a safety net for 30 days.

  5. Week 5

    Being found

Facebook, industry and general directories aligned, the first ranking snapshot recorded, and any spam links pointing at the old site disavowed.

  6. Week 6 on

    Care

The care plan begins: hosting and records under watch, the enquiry log checked against your inbox each month, and a plain-English note each quarter.

The five weeks depend on the content conversation and page approvals happening in the first fortnight. If Google's verification takes longer, which happens with home-based businesses, the site still launches on time and the profile follows.

Why John

Test the whole path, not the part that looks fine.

07 Practical judgement

Built the same way as this site, and checked the same way.

I spent 25 years in IT operations, including hospital radiology systems and diagnostic imaging support across Australia and New Zealand. In that work you learn that a form which looks fine and a form which delivers are two different things, and that the only way to know is to send a real message through it.

This site is built the way I build client sites: static pages on Cloudflare, a Turnstile-protected form that posts to a program I control, and structured business data behind every page. I also audited it in public, faults included.

I built and sold a local gardening business before Lumomatics, so I know what a quiet week feels like from the owner's side, and why a missed enquiry matters more than a prettier homepage.

Price and care

One fixed price. One plan to keep it working.

The build is AUD $2,500–$4,500, fixed in writing before work starts, half on acceptance and half at launch. What moves it inside that range is the number of pages, the number of suburb pages and projects, and whether an existing profile needs duplicates consolidated. The $399 audit is credited in full if you go ahead within 30 days.

The care plan is $199 to $499 a month depending on how much changes, with a 12-month minimum and 30 days' notice after that. Hosting costs are close to nothing and are included; your domain renewal stays with you.

Managing your own listing is free and worth doing. Start with Google Business Profile and the Australian Government's guidance on getting your business online. This build is for owners who would rather have the whole path fixed and then watched.

08 FAQ

Questions worth answering before you book.

Is this SEO?

Partly. Local SEO, a Google Business Profile and consistent directory listings are ingredients in it. The job is wider than that: it also rebuilds the site so it works on a phone and says the right thing, replaces the contact form so bots cannot get through, and adds the email records that stop forgery. If you only want rankings work on a site that already works, this is more than you need.

Will this get me to the top of Google?

No result is promised. Map results are weighted by where the searcher is standing relative to your verified location, and no page can change that. The reasons a local business is invisible are usually specific and fixable, and the audit names them before you commit to a build. The quarterly note under the care plan reports what actually happened.

Do I need the audit first?

Usually, yes. The $399 Workflow Clarity Audit, viewed through a findability lens, establishes what is broken and whether a rebuild is the right fix. Sometimes the answer is a free correction to a listing, and then this page does not apply to you. If you go ahead with the build within 30 days, the audit fee is credited in full.

What is the site built on, and why not WordPress or Wix?

Static pages on Cloudflare, the same way this site is built. There is no content management system to keep patched, nothing for bots to log in to, and pages load quickly on a phone. The trade-off is that you send changes to me rather than editing pages yourself; the care plan covers that. If you need to publish something every day, a content management system is the better fit and I will say so.

Will the spam stop?

Form spam stops, because the form no longer goes straight to a mailbox. Forged mail and the bounce-backs it causes drop sharply once the domain records are enforced. List spam to an address that has been public for years keeps coming until the address changes, and changing it is a separate job with its own cost.

What happens to my email and my domain?

Both stay yours. Your mailbox stays where it is, with the authentication records added to the domain. The domain stays registered in your name; I need access to change its records at launch, and I will tell you exactly which records change and why. Moving your mailbox to another provider is not included, and can be quoted separately.

Do you do web design, logos or branding?

No. I build clear, fast pages inside the brand you already have, with your logo and your photos. If you need a logo or a visual identity, get that done first and I will build to it.

What if I already have a Google Business Profile?

Then it is repaired rather than created: categories, areas, details and photos corrected, duplicate profiles consolidated where Google allows, and ownership recovered where it sits with a former web person. Some recoveries depend on Google and take longer than the build itself, which is why they start in week one.

What changes the price?

The number of pages and suburb pages, how many projects you want shown, whether an existing profile needs duplicates consolidated, and how much of the current content can be reused. Photography, mailbox migration, running social media and paid advertising are not included. The scope and the price are agreed in writing before anything starts.
